General Information

Companion Software is a privately held company that was founded on October 6, 1994 by Larry Daniele. The company is located in Northampton, Massachusetts USA.

Our Products and Services

Companion Software develops software products and provides computer-related services. Our products and services build upon or enhance existing industry standards and are well-suited to be integrated into larger projects, hence our company motto “Helping you put it all together”.

Our first product, Metafile Companion, was introduced in August of 1996. Metafile Companion is the first stand-alone, 32-bit program for Windows to use standard Windows metafiles (WMF and EMF files) as its native file format.

Our Customers

We license our products directly to end-users as well as OEMs for distribution with other products. Our typical end-user is someone who needs to edit, enhance or customize graphics. Our typical OEM customer is a company that markets clip art, that markets “suites” of software or that builds large custom software systems that require some graphical editing capability.
